ABOUT US
The No Pants Players came into
existence in 2001, founded by Joe Wallace, the troupe began with 5
members, but has since grown to eight. The players consist of local and
community theater personalities that share a love for the beveled edge
of improvisational comedy. The group's styling is very similar to the
popular TV show "Whose Line Is It Anyway?" The fast-pace nature of their
performances forces every member of the troupe to completely rely upon
the abilities, and most importantly, the instincts, of their fellow
players. The No Pants Players has made a home for themselves at the
Labelle Theater over the past two years, performing monthly shows at the
venue. No Pants Players performances are family friendly offering new
entertainment option to the Kanawha Valley and surrounding area.
The No
Pants Players have become a staple at Charleston's Festivall, the past
three years, which includes their street performances, and this past
year an exclusive, late-night adult-themed performance at the Clay
Center, the No Pants Players also did their first show at Tamarack in
Beckley this past July. An accomplishment the troupe is most proud of
was the 2006 first annual "Pants Drive" clothing drive to benefit
Covenant House in Charleston last holiday season, raising over $1200 in
new clothing for families in need. The drive was such a success, that
the troupe has decided to do it again for the 2007 season. With the
support of many local businesses, and with the Boy Scouts of America
assisting in the drive, the No Pants Players expect a very successful
drive this year.
So what's
next for this ragtag octet of impetuous hilarity? They will of course
continue their monthly shows at the Labelle Theater in South Charleston,
including the upcoming 4th annual Holiday Comedy Joytacular, which will
feature both the usual improv comedy, and some original holiday-theme
sketch comedy. |
