About Us
The No Pants Players came into existence in 2001, founded by Joe Wallace. The troupe began with five members, but is currently operating with eight members, plus two more cast members who will soon be joining the troupe on the stage. The players consist of local and community theater personalities that share a love for the beveled edge of improvisational comedy. The group's styling is very similar to the popular TV show "Whose Line Is It Anyway?" The fast-pace nature of their performances forces every member of the troupe to completely rely upon the abilities, and most importantly, the instincts, of their fellow players. The No Pants Players have made a home for themselves at the Labelle Theater over the past four years, performing monthly shows at the venue. The No Pants Players' performances are well-known to be family-friendly entertainment, and have become a great addition to the Kanawha Valley theater scene.
The No Pants Players are scheduled to perform their 3rd annual show at Tamarack in Beckley in September, 2009. An accomplishment that troupe member/marketing director Tony Slack is proud of is the annual "Pants Drive." Over the past three years the troupe has gathered over $3000.00 in clothing items from its holiday audiences, that in turn are donated to the Covenant House of Charleston. 2009 will mark the 4th season for the drive. Also on June 27th, the No Pants Players joined forces with Kanawha Players during FestivAll to put on a benefit show for KP that brought in close to $600.00 in ticket sales, with all proceeds going to Kanawha Players. The troupe mostly met each other through doing community theater with Kanawha Players, and this was a way for the troupe to give back and say "Thank You." The entire troupe would like to thank all of their faithful fans that come out month after month and support our organization. Without them, we could not do what we love.
